Pacific Rim is best known for spectacular beaches, notably Long Beach and Florencia Bay Beach. It is a long, narrow park on the extreme west coast of Canada. Some popular activities include whale-watching during the springtime gray whale migration, surfing (wet suit required due to the cold water), camping, and beach-combing. Numerous glass Japanese fishing floats have been found on these beaches, although they are becoming less common.
There has been some debris from the massive Japanese tsunami found, and more is expected in 2014 and 2015.
The southern section of the park is unconnected to the main part, and consists of the 75 km West Coast Trail, which follows the old life-saving routes from the days when this stretch of coast was known as the "graveyard of the Pacific" due to the numbers of shipwrecks. (
