This sculpture was a gift from trustee Ranney E. Draper (Class of 1960) and the Draper Family in honour of Ranney C. Draper (Class of 1925). The sculpture was created by Class of 1961 graduate Norman Hines.

The sculpture titled "In the Spirit of Excellence" is located near the west entrance of the Rains Center. The sclupture was placed shortly after the opening of the building.

The twin spires of this sculpture are worth as stop whether your are rushing between classes or just visiting the campus.
