VFW War Memorial - Salem, Oregon - Non-Specific Veteran Memorials on Waymarking.com

This war memorial features a bronze sculpture of a soldier standing a top a globe that measures approximately four feet in diameter. The globe is mounted atop a based that displays the insignia of the VFW and each of the five branches of the armed forces.

The memorial is an interesting piece of artwork and is located within a small memorial park north of the Veterans Affairs building on the west bank of Mill Creek. Other memorials in this park are dedicated to veterans of the Korean War and the Afghan-Iraqi Freedom conflicts. A granite obelisk honors recipients of the Medal of Honor. Further south, along the creek behind the Veterans Affairs building is a doughboy statue honoring World War I veterans and a plaque for Spanish-American War veterans.
