A plaque at Connaught Place at Edgware Road identifies the building in which Lord Randolph Churchill lived. The blue plaque reads:

LONDON COUNTY COUNCIL
LORD
RANDOLPH
CHURCH
1849 - 1895
STATESMAN
lived here
1883 - 1892

Lord Randolph Henry Spencer-Churchill PC was the third son of the 7th Duke of Marlborough, and his wife, Lady Frances Vane. He was the father of future Prime Minister Winston Churchill

Randolph Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace, near Woodstock, Oxfordshire. He was at first privately educated, attended Tabor's Preparatory School at Cheam, London and then Eton College and Merton College, Oxford. He obtained a degree in jurisprudence and modern history in 1870.

In 1874 he was elected to Parliament as Conservative member for Woodstock, Oxfordshire. He rose rapidly, becoming leader of the House and chancellor of the Exchequer in 1886.

Lord Randolph Churchill married the American socialite Jennie Jerome on April 15, 1874. Together they had two sons: Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (1874–1965) and John Strange "Jack" Spencer-Churchill (1880–1947).

Winston Churchill would eclipse his fathers accomplishments and become one of Great Britain's most successful and famous Prime Ministers.
