Sir Charles Cameron, 1st Baronet (1841–1924) was a doctor, newspaper editor and active member of Parliament. His political activities included reforms in liquor laws, securing women's right to vote and abolishing imprisonment for debt.
In 1896, one year after he abandonned political career, a memorial terracota fountain with a plaque was built by public subscription at Charing Cross.
