We were on the hunt for the World's Largest, we even bought a book listing most of them in Canada.
We both enjoy mushrooms, and thought it fitting to visit these amazing mushrooms. Though the area is known for hunting mushrooms, we were there too late in the season. We are avid mushroom hunters ourselves.
If you look for edible mushrooms, please read a guide to hunting mushrooms first. There are some that are very poisonous and look like the edible ones. If you have the opportunity to look for mushrooms with an experienced mushroom hunter, you are well advised to seek their help. Please be careful.
The World's Largest Mushrooms were constructed in 1993 as a symbol of the excellent mushroom picking in the area. They stand 20 feet high with a spread of 15 feet and weigh 18,000 lbs. They were built by local artists and tradesmen in 1993 at a cost of $28,000.
