The pillar is hidden in the brush immediately off the Voyageurs Pathway trail system.

This pillar is only about 20m from its sister benchmark, WMFMG4. I suspect that when this and the nearby pillar were created in the 1980s, the markers were easy to sight together. However, vegetation has since changed that scenario. There is also a pillar one level below the scenic viewpoint north of the Supreme Court of Canada across the river in Ottawa which could have been sighted from this location.
