Tachov is a city situated in the west part of the Czech Republic very close to the German border, and it lies in the middle of protected landscape area known as the Czech Forest.
During the 14th century, the city walls were built up around the town. They gradually became a pride of Tachov, especially because of its condition that they are in. In the walls there were three entrances to the town. Thanks to the reconstruction, the walls are very well kept, so even today we can see almost all of the original twenty-six towers, which played an important role during wars and enemy attacks.

Tachov se jako jedno z mála mest pyšní zcásti zachovalým hradebním systémem a to stále probíhá rekonstrukce hradeb vcetne bašt.
Mesto Tachov bylo založeno koncem 13. stol. a již ve 14. stol. byl stredoveký Tachov obehnán okružní hradební zdí vysokou 8 - 10 m, širokou 140 - 150 cm se šikmou korunou bez drevených ochozu. Hradby byly zpevneny 26ti pravidelne razenými vežemi hranolového pudorysu, otevrenými do mesta, vysokými 11 - 14 m.
Vstupy do mesta zajištovaly tri brány. Dodnes se žádná z bran nedochovala. Do dnešních dnu se zachovalo 21 veží nebo jejich fragmentu.
