Trinity Bomb Replica

This is a full-scale model of the first atomic bomb, nicknamed "the gadget" that was detonated at the Trinity Test Site in New Mexico on 16 July 1945. This replica was built as a prop for the BBC movie "Oppenheimer," filmed at Ft. Carson, Colorado, in 1980. After the filming, the model remained at the Fort Carson Museum for several years. It was moved to Hill Aerospace Museum in 1986.
