"I let myself be inspired by the poetic shapes that are also found in industrial things such as the farm buildings, the laboratories, and the clean and shiny surfaces of the slaughterhouse. The three slabs are like stiff pages in a book that is opened for the first time - new, pure and unwriten pages. The pipes connecting the pages in the book are inspired by the ventilation pipes in the pig house. The contrast between the landscape, that creates a gentle and natural background, and the stringent strokes of the farm buildings, fascinates me and keeps the sculpture in place." - Jane Hooge

Research Center Foulum came to be in 1984. By stages the researchers in animal science and plant science moved in from various places in Denmark. The building work also took place in stages and, with that, the acquisition af art. The funds for buying art where avalible due to the fact that in public construction project in Denmark, one percent of the building cost must be allocated to the acquisition af art. The sculptor Erik Varming selected most of the artists who have created the large outdoor sculptures. Today Research Center Foulum is home to more than 50 impressive works of art indoors and outdoors.

There are working staff in all buildings on the site, which should be respected - traffic on the site must be on the trails and instructions from staff should be followed.
