Built in 1935 to relieve the outdated an overcrowded 1872 Italianate style courthouse.

After being built in 1935, it served until the 1950's when a new courthouse complex opened away from the downtown area. After that it was used by other government agencies.
The three story building still displays some of its original art deco features, i.e. the decorative panels, chevrons and zig zag details.
