The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is the final destination of the Camino de Santiago, the Way of St. James, an ancient pilgrimage route across Europe. In the cathedral crypt are the relics, the bones of St James.

In the cloister are three vertical sundials mounted on the terrace above the arches. Gain entrance to the cloister through the cathedral museum. This waymarks the west facing sundial facing sundial on the east terrace. Afternoon hourlines are engraved as are the latitude "G43 M 30" and date "1601"

As with the wall orientaion error, about 8° south of west, the design latitude is off by 38'. These small errors are not corrected on any of the old sundials in the cloister, created in 1601.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
