The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert is surrounded by sculptures and includes the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden north of the museum building (The Galen). I didn't visit the inside of The Galen but I DID enjoy walking around the sculpture garden and visiting each sculpture from abstract to realistic. There is also a waterfall in the sculpture garden that drowns out the hustle and bustle of cars zooming by on Hwy 111. The following text is from the museum's website:

Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden
The Galen building is surrounded by the four-acre Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden that features more than 10 significant sculpture works on view surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. Set in a lushly landscaped desert oasis of water features, native plants and winding walkways dotted with natural rock benches, the sculpture garden houses the art of modern masters, including works by Donald Judd, Betty Gold, Yehiel Shemi, Felipe Castaneda, Jesús Bautista Moroles, Dan Namingha, Gio Pomodoro, and Dave McGary. The 250,000 square feet of sculpted, rolling landscape covered with native plantings, winding pathways, and water features is the most important sculpture garden between Los Angeles and Phoenix. The sculpture garden is open year round with no admission fee.

_____________________________________________________

The sculpture garden was originally called the Eric Johnson Memorial Gardens in memory of Eric Johnson, an expert horticulturist and landscape designer throughout the Southwest and who had a great influence on many landscaping projects throughout Coachella Valley. Rock boulders are inscribed with text throughout the garden which credit Eric Johnson in the garden's look and feel.

If the Galen is closed when you visit, be sure to spend some time enjoying the many sculptures that exist within the sculpture garden and pause to reflect on some of the great works of art that you will see.
