Pomník na Veletržní ulici v parcíku pred letohrádkem pripomíná boje rakouské monarchie proti Turkum a dobytí Belehradu. Na podstavci byla vyryta ješte jména dalších generálu bojujících proti Turkum a datum dobytí Belehradu. V roce 1900 vyslovil brnenský obecní výbor podekování K. Wawrovi, který na své náklady nechal restaurovat tri skulptury, nalezené ve dvore zrušené budovy mestské fary. Dve byly instalovány do špilberského parku, tretí, pripomínající války s Turky, byla umístena pred budovu 1. nemeckého gymnázia. Pozdeji prenesena na dnešní místo.

Monument located on Veletržní street in the park of local summerhouse commemorates the fight of Austrian monarchy against the Turks and Siege of Belgrade (1789).

"In the Siege of Belgrade from 15 September to 8 October 1789, an army of Habsburg Austria led by Feldmarschall Ernst Gideon Freiherr von Laudon besieged an Ottoman Turkish force in the fortress of Belgrade. After a three week leaguer, the Austrians stormed and captured the fortress. Austria held the city until 1791 when it handed Belgrade back to the Ottomans according to the terms of the peace treaty. Several Austrian soldiers who distinguished themselves during the siege later held important commands in the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars. Belgrade is the capital of modern Serbia."
