-update 2021 - the wood carving has yielded to the elements and is no longer there
This Outside Wooden Display Carving is a turtle carved into an old stump, located along the Lake Ontario trail. It was hand carved in Fall 2012 by artist Bill Le Blanc. I was able to observe the artist on many days working on this carving (I pass this carving as I commute to and from work by bike).
There is no longer an entrance fee for access to Confederation Park. The easiest way to access this carving is to park on Grays Rd (observe the parking restrictions and only park in the designated areas) and walk in approximatly 1 km to the carving. Alternatively you may park in the lot near Wild Waterworks and walk a few kms to the east to see the carving.
Currently (April 2013) there are 2 completed works by this artist in Confederation Park, a third is underway and there are plans for 3 additional carvings.
Type of wood carving: Combination of carving tools
Artist's Name: Bill Le Blanc
Approximate size/height: 1 meter
Type of wood: Unknown
Other type: Not listed
