The Ryssby Church was built in 1882 by Swedish immigrants who had founded a colony in the area using the Homestead Act and modeled their new community after their prior home of Ryssby, Sweden. As the community flourished, members began to move to nearby Longmont and eventually this church merged with Elim Lutheran Church to form the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Longmont. Many of the colonists and their descendants are buried in the adjacent cemetery. The church is still active and will occasionally meet for Christmas and Easter services, as well as weddings and church gatherings. Added to National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
