The town of Sulphur Springs in Benton County, not to be confused with any of the other seven places in Arkansas that bear that name, indeed centered around the attraction of the mineral springs here.
Included in its history is the establishment by John Townsend of what eventually became know as the Wycliffe Translators, a global Christian mission organization that has translated the Bible and Bible portions into hundreds of languages.
This park dates back to 1859 and incorporates several of the older buildings of Sulphur Springs. It was placed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
Today there are numerous recreational opportunities here including this children's playground, hiking, picnicking, horseshoes, and access to water sports. There are actually several areas for play equipment within this large park. This is the one nearest the parking area and restrooms.
There is convenient access from the entrance on Route 59, and ample parking.
