This bronze statue by Eduard Spörri depicts Judith a character from Gettfried Keller's famous novel Green Henry.
It is located where the bridge between the two cities of Rheinfelden passes the small island a few steps from the border line. It was a gift from the German city of Rheinfelden for the 850th anniversary of the cities in 1980. Rheinfelden was given city rights in 1130, the municipality was at least 300 years older as a village. After a long common history the Austrian property was split in 1803, the southern part became a Swiss city and the northern part German. But both cities kept close social and economical connections since then.
