The present Conservatory constructed in 1975 replaced the two original Edwardian greenhouses that contained a cactus collection and seasonal flower displays.
Today the Conservatory houses a mixture of over 350 different plants selected for their ornamental and economic interest. The warm, humid and moist conditions are perfect for the growth of sub-tropical plants and animals. If you are lucky enough, you might spot one of our exotic creatures lurking in the undergrowth. The large pond in the central area contains a fine collection of fish and terrapins always ready for a titbit.
The Conservatory has lots to offer all the family, including activity sheets, feeding the fish and terrapins or for those inclined, a quiet corner to sit and reflect.
