This artistically carved post rock welcome sign is a colorful greeting to the geographic center of the US. Note the symbols on the legs of the sign - -corn, for the grain farming this is the main industry here, and sunflowers -- the state flower of Kansas.
Post Rock limestone is a unique rock to this area, and was frequently used by pioneer to make fenceposts, since trees were scarce and would not withstand prairie fires.
