#11 Main Street is an example of the Queen Anne Vernacular style. Particularly noteworthy are its rubble stone basement and diamond pane attic window sash. This house possesses a gable front form. This house rises 2 1\2 stories from a rubble stone basement.
#11 Main Street was built ca. 1900-1910. It does not appear on the 1898 atlas. At that time it was part of #13 Main Street's lot and was owned by the town. During the mid-19th c. this house lot was part of W.H. Aldrich, "merchant"'s land. Its first known owner has not been determined. This house provides a physical link documenting Mendon during the period 1870-1915. This perio din the town's history was characterized by a marked decline in population.
