The removal of a building to create a parking lot for the church unveiled these gems originally painted in the 1910's. Pepsi-Cola, Wrigley's and Chiclets are advertised here. The faint images of even older signs are underneath.

Durham was one of the first two cities with local Pepsi bottling plants. This is an unusual sign in that it doesn't feature the true Pepsi-Cola logo. The Wrigley's phrase "Don't forget Wrigley's after every meal" is circa 1917. The Chiclets phrase "That Dainty Mint Covered Candy Coated Chewing Gum" was used as early as 1912.
