When the school closed in 1968, the community made use of the structue by putting the post office in part of the building.
It also houses the local American Legion post.
A town of about 110 people as of July 2008, Northville is located on SD Highway 20 about 5 miles west of US Highway 281 in Spink County.
The area was settled by German, Norwegian, Irish, French, and Danish peoples and the town was incorporated on June 1, 1909.
