To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the founding of RMC, the RMC Foundation refurbished the Memorial Arch and the Royal Canadian Mint issued a 5-cent coin. Located at the Royal Military College adjacent to Highway 2 in Kingston, Ontario.

The Coin:

2001 The Royal Military College of Canada - 125th Anniversary

To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the founding of RMC, the RMC Foundation issued a 5-cent coin. Mr. Gerald T. Locklin of the Royal Military College was the artist of record for the coin's design.

The Arch:

The Memorial Arch honours Ex-Cadets who have died in the service of Canada.

This monument, unveiled in 1924, was funded by the RMC Club of Canada. Construction began in 1923 and at a cost of $70,000.

Renowned Toronto architect John M. Lyle designed the structure. The Arch stands on a base of Quebec granite with carvings on each side.

The Arch reads on the North side "TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF THE EX-CADETS OF THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THE EMPIRE" and on the South side "TRUTH DUTY VALORE - BLOW OUT YOU BUGLES OVER THE RICH DEAD THERE'S NONE OF THESE SO LONELY AND POOR OF OLD BUT DYING HAS MADE US RARER GIFTS THAN GOLD"
