Monument Confucius

Cette imposante sculpture de cuivre est un cadeau du Shandong à Québec, un gage de l'amitié soutenue qui lie le Québec à cette province chinoise, qui a vu naître le célèbre philosophe.

Le dévoilement du monument s'est déroulé le 11 juin 2009, en présence de nombreux dignitaires et invités de marque:

le premier ministre du Québec, Jean Charest
la vice-gouverneure du Shandong, Suilian Wang
l'ambassadeur de la République populaire de Chine, Son Excellence Lijun Lan

L'inscription au bas de la statue se lit comme suit:

Philosophe et grand éducateur de la Chine, Confucius est né dans l'état de Lu, aujourd'hui la ville Qufu, au Shandong, lors de la période du Printemps et de l'Automne. Son enseignement a marqué la civilisation chinoise et donné naissance au Confucianisme. Cette statue constitue un témoignage d'amitié, de fraternité et de compréhension du peuple de Shandong à l'égard du peuple du Québec.

This imposing copper sculpture is a gift from Shandong to Quebec, a pledge of continued friendship that links Québec to this Chinese province, the birthplace of the famous philosopher.

The unveiling of the monument took place on 11 June 2009, in the presence of many dignitaries and distinguished guests:

the Premier of Quebec, Jean Charest
Vice Governor of Shandong, Wang Suilian
Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, His Excellency Lan Lijun

The inscription at the bottom of the statue reads as follows:

Great philosopher and educator of China, Confucius was born in the state of Lu, today's Qufu City, Shandong, during the period of Spring and Autumn. His teaching marked Chinese civilization and gave birth to Confucianism. This statue is a token of friendship, brotherhood and understanding of the people of Shandong towards the people of Quebec.
