We visited Jersey Cheese and Dairy about 8:00 am on a wet and muddy morning. We weren't intending to actually tour the dairy that early, however the foreman was most gracious and gave us the tour. The cheese was already going when we got there, so we missed the actual process. You are only allowed to view the process though glass due to sanitation considerations.

As part of the tour, you will see the milking barn (and maybe watch the cows being milked). You continue to the back where the Jersey milking cows are fed and tended. The young heifers are kept separate from the milking cows. There were about 40 resting cows (those not bred yet) and the highlight for us was watching two of the baby calves being bottle fed.

Tours start at 9:00 am and the last tour is 4:00 pm. Monday to Saturday. We would suggest calling ahead to find out when they do the milking. Phone (250) 442-8112 or you can email them at jerseyland@telus.net

This is a great dairy to tour, sample their cheese and be greeted by some very friendly people and say Hi to the family.

They have a gift shop that features their cheeses, sour cream, and yogurts.

Picnic tables are provided to the right of the entrance.

In 1994 Jerseyland Cheese began commercial production after completing its transition to "Certified Organic" status. Now named Jerseyland Organics, it is British Columbia’s first organic dairy and producer of organic cheese and yogurt.

Jerseyland Dairy/Organics is family owned and operated by the deVries family. They purchased the dairy in 2006.

Their philosophy: Jerseyland Organics dairy products are made from 100% certified organic jersey milk from our own herd of dairy cows. At Jerseyland, we produce wholesome organic cheeses, sour cream and yogurts and believe in the humane treatment of animals and the responsible stewardship of our farm lands.
