Located at the intersection with Stanford Drive, this section of Ponce De Leon Boulevard runs parallel to Dixie Highway (U.S. Hwy 1). The boulevard led one from downtown Coral Gables to the main campus of the University of Miami after the founder of the city gave 160 acres to the school in 1925.
I passed this intersection many times in my youth after my parents became part of the permanent congregation of the Episcopal Chapel of the Venerable Bede on the campus not far from this point. Since Ponce De Leon Boulevard was a major road in the city, we covered many miles on it over the years.
