Perhaps an unlikely name for a beach, but this relatively small beach is one of the gems of the thirteen beaches within the town of Dennis on Cape Cod. It is bounded on the west by the breakwater for Sesuit Harbor and to the east, only by markings for private beach land. Since it is on the inner cape, it faces north and the tip of Cape Cod can be seen curling around to the north. Boston is to the northeast, but is to far away to be seen.

The fine white sand here is mounded into dunes by the wind and the dunes are protected by erosion control fences. The beach has a gentle slope perfect for walking or just relaxing. In the protected bay the waves are nearly non-existent especially on a calm day, unlike the south shore beaches. The water is also cooler, but still pleasant for swimming in the summer when there are life guards on duty.

Unlike the larger Chapin Beach and Mayflower Beach on the Dennis north shore, Cold Storage has parking that is open only to residents of the town. Two lots, one paved and one gravel, provide parking for about a hundred cars. There is also short term parking at the Sesuit Overlook at the Municipal Marina south of the beach. It is one of 16 seashore beaches administered by the town of Dennis.
