The waymark coordinates are for the south entrance to the KS State Capitol building. Not surprisingly, our GPS did not work inside this massive stone building.
The Eisenhower Centennial time capsule was placed in the wall of the Capitol Rotunda on the second floor of the Capitol Building on 14 Oct 1990 to commemorate the centennial of the birth of Kansas' favorite adopted son, President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The time capsule was placed by the Eisenhower Centennial Commission and the State of Kansas.
The inconvenient fact is that Eisenhower was born 14 Oct 1890 IN DENISON, TEXAS. The capsule will be opened on 14 Oct 2090, the bicentennial of Eisenhower's birth IN TEXAS.
Being 1st (Daddy Blaster), 6th (Mama Blaster), and 7th-generation (Younger Blasters) Native Texans ourselves, Blasterz will always call out our fellow Texans wherever we find them -- :)
The time capsule is beneath a marble sculpture of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a former 5-star general in WWII. Source: Kansas State Historical Society, "Guide to the Kansas State Capitol," pg 15. See (
