In October 2012, the first two figurative chicken sculptures were placed along West Street in downtown Annapolis, MD. (See waymark links below) By April 2013, at least three more new figurative public sculptures of chicken-themed art have been added along West Street. The chicken art featured in this waymark was created by Terri Borges and is titled "I-Chicken." It stands just over 5 feet tall next to the street's curb at the Westgate Circle roundabout, between the West Street and Spa Road junctions, in front of the Severn Savings Bank and the Wild Orchid Restaurant. The title sign next to the I-Chicken sculpture is sponsored by Severn Savings Bank. The I-Chicken is formed with red, black, yellow, brown, gray and white colored mosaic tiles to give the Bantam chicken look to the chicken/egg mold, but is embellished with electrical cables for its tail, and CD discs in front giving it a bright breast plate. It is a well connected, plugged in, Facebook-type of chicken that Apple should have sponsored!
Terri Borges is the local area artist who created the I-Chicken. She applied for and won a grant from the City of Annapolis Art in Public Places Committee (AIPPC). The AIPPC manages this Hatching the Arts in Annapolis project. The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County also gives supports to the chicken art project.
The current chickens of the Hatch the Arts in Annapolis are all located along West Street between Westgate Circle and Church Circle. All are visible from the street.
