This weathervane is on the St George's Centre that was, until the Royal Navy left Chatham in 1984, St George's Chapel. Chatham has a strong association with the Royal Navy and is probably why an old fashioned naval ship was chosen as the vane.

The weathervane is located on the roof of St George's Centre at its eastern end. It depicts a man-of-war with three masts. Constructed of metal, probably brass plate, the masts have some rigging, pennants and a large flag. The bow od the ship faces into the wind.

The ship is mounted on top of a pole. At the base there is some scrolled wrought ironwork. At half height there is a globe, also wrought iron, with the cardinal pointers.
