The General Forrest historical marker is a standard, for the time, Alabama Historical Association metal marker. It is located on the east side of US Hwy 31 just north of Hanceville, AL. The marker was placed by the Alabama Historical Association.

Marker Text: General Forrest’s pursuit and Union Col. Streight’s defense, from battleground (26 m. NW) to capture at Lawrence (80 m. East) – said to be the greatest cavalry fight in modern warfare. It passed here May 1, 1863.
