The former observatory located in the north-eastern tower of the castle was used as Center Point of the first surveying of the state of Württemberg in the years between 1818 and 1840.
The surveying was managed by J.G. Friedrich Bohnenberger until his death in 1831. There's also a memorial plaque for him.
The memorial plaques are located at the inner courtyard of the castle and are free accessable to the public.
