Leaf Bench was commissioned by Canada Lands Company and donated to the City of Kelowna in 2006. Leaf Bench was creatively accomplished by artists: Mel Gunn and Site 360 (Don Ferguson and Bob Evans).
This Brazilian cherry wood bench provides two very large seating areas. Each side is one half of a leaf and the midrib is a large half leaf to form the backrest. Leaf Bench overlooks Brandt's Creek that is now part of a wetland protective area. It provides an ideal vantage point for viewing of 'Leap of Faith' and a restful spot to enjoy the creek side setting.
Brandt’s Creek Crossing was developed into a 4.4 acre stream protection corridor in 2002.
The site was previously a Canadian National rail yard that began in 1925 and continued until 1997 (72 years). The site was heavily contaminated and after extensive clean up; costing over $1.5 million and a project spanning two years the site is now ready for all to enjoyment who visit Brandt Creek.
