This U.S. Lake Survey mark (designated N 5 USLS) is set in the top of the Bird Island Pier breakerwall, approximately 8 or so feet past the end of the main boardwalk. The mark is set in the top of a 2.5 wide section of the breakerwall, approximately 20 inches SE from the NW end. The mark is actually visible from the end of the boardwalk

This looks to have been mounted in 1931 according to the stamp on the survey disk.

The foundation around the disk looks to be in good shape, so it should remain intact for sometime. Parking to access the boardwalk can be found at: N 42 54.907, W 078 54.176.
