This three part big belly trash compacting system has a recycle section that is being used for paper collection by the adjacent apartment in the East Village neighbourhood in Calgary, Alberta.

The apartment building that does not have recycle collection has a number of residents bring their paper to this recycle collection bin. When waymarked it was full but a resident was seen further stuffing the bin. It would seem that if these are to serve their primary purpose of opportunistic collection then the apartment block needs a different system.
The collection system involves three parts, paper, returnables and garbage. With a built-in compaction system garbage collection is reduced.
