Mechelen station is a railway station in the city of Mechelen. The station is located at the confluence of three railway lines, line 25, line 27 and line 53, and is served by both IR and IC trains.

On May 5, 1835 was near the station Mechelen the arrival point of the first public train to mainland Europe from Brussels to Mechelen. A station was not there at that time and the train did not stop before the Leuven canal in the absence of a bridge which until April 1836 was ready for use. The passengers were on a pontoon to the other side and then brought to the current square to the station where the festivities were held. Even King Leopold I was present. He was incognito resigned in Vilvoorde for his safety. At that time there was a lot of resistance to this new means of transport.
