This museum just opened recently on June 26, 2012. Ripley's Believe It or Not, one of the first of several new tenants opening for the summer tourist season at the Light Street Pavilion. The store front is gorgeous and amazing (see gallery). There are all sorts of wonderful things to see on the outside without even paying to go inside, which is what I did! I saw an elephant with two trunks, the world's smallest car, a robot made of car parts and other weird and unusual things! I did not actually go inside as I found it to be somewhat cost prohibitive ($17.99).
From their website:
Ripley's features nine themed galleries and more than 120 interactive activities. Some of the notable exhibits include:
-An interactive high wire walking exhibit where visitors can walk on part of the actual wire used by Nik Wallenda during his recent walk at the Inner Harbor.
-A musical stairway to heaven.
-A 10,000 pound granite ball carved with facts (believe them or not) about Baltimore, which floats on a thin layer of water and can be turned by visitors.
-Toothpick City, a gallery of wooden matchstick-constructed skyscrapers and monuments.
And that's not all! Ripley's also has a mirror maze and a 4D movie theater, each of which are considered separate attractions. If that's not enough to pique your interest, consider the art gallery like no other. It features a portrait of Justin Bieber, made out of licorice and gummy bears, and a version of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. That's made from laundry lint.
Single tickets for each attraction are $17.99 for adults and $11.99 for children, with discounted combo tickets for two or all three attractions.
