Located on Willow Street near the intersection of Cleveland Street, the water tower is supported by four legs and is marked "Chincoteague Island." Water is piped from wells located across the road from the NASA visitor center on Chincoteague Road (Route 175), along the John B. Whealton Memorial Causeway and onto the island to this water tower. After the water is treated and pressurized, it is distributed via underground pipes to businesses and homes.
