The Criterion Hotel is the last remaining Art Deco hotel in Perth’s CBD. Since its dedication in 1937 it has been a popular destination. In March 2013 it was undergoing renovation, but one which will keep intact the art deco elements (according to the hotel website, listed below). The Hotel facade has distinctive “skyscrapers”, with flagpoles bracketing grouped windows, and openings emphasising vertical lines and contrasts of light. The doors, ceilings, stairways, light fittings and leadlight windows, are also distinctive.
The hotel sells souvenirs: caps, linen, even models (a must for any art deco aficionado)
