Dub je (cástecne vlivem zastínení) velmi vysoký, koruna bývala chudší a vysoká, dub už není živý. Torzo je obrostlé mechem. Presné datum zániku uvádeno není, lze dohledat jen rozmezí 1995 - 2002. Zánikem tohoto stromu prišly Jižní Cechy, jakožto rodište Jana Žižky, o poslední dub jeho jména, který mohl tohoto zemana pamatovat.
Puvodne byl v techto místech rybník a dub stál na jeho hrázi. Pozdeji byl rybník zrušen, zalesnen a po letech dub zmizel v porostu.
Na kmeni stromu je tabulka s obrazem Žižky a text - údajne citace z Popravcí knihy rožmberské:
"Léta páne 1408 - 1409 scházel se pod tímto dubem Jan Žižka z Trocnova se svým bratrem Jaroslavem, nekolika zemany a prostými lapky, veda drobnou záškodnickou válku proti panské jednote, najme panu Jindrichovi z Rožmberka a mestu Budejovicum."

The oak was very high due to the shadow in the wood, now the tree is dead and mossy. It is the last oak of Jan Žižka in Southern Bohemia. Originally, there was a pond and the oak stood on the dike. Now the tree is in the middle of forests.
