When this branch of the Royal Bank of Canada opened in the 1950s it was the main highway from Vancouver to the rest of Canada and south towards Seattle. As Kingsway was eventually replaced by the new freeway system its importance slowly diminished.

Today this Royal Bank of Canada building is located in the burgeoning Metrotown area of the Metro Vancouver. And, as the construction crane in the background illustrates, the area is under a new phase of life with new buildings. How long this former bank will last is not certain, but it does speak of former time.
