This large artillery piece is an M110 203mm Self-Propelled vehicle, introduced in 1962. It consists of an 8" Howitzer gun mounted on a tracked chassis, with five large rubber tired road wheels. It has a maximum speed of 34 mph and a range of 325 miles. It was used in various theaters worldwide, and would have been heavily used if the European Cold War had escalated. The U.S. used it in Vietnam, and the British used it as late as the Persian War.
It was not used as a front-line weapon in line-of-sight operations, but lobbed its projectiles from a rear position. Thus, it had no secondary weaponry. It carried only two 203mm projectiles, with additional weapons towed behind on a support vehicle. Its driver was in a protective cavity on the front left, with four additional personnel on open-air seats at the rear. Eight personnel followed on the support vehicle. The vehicle has a large dozer blade at the rear used to counter the recoil.
