A guide takes you round Great Masson Caverns showing you the rocks, miner's snot and chambers. Various depictions can be seen on the rockface and mineral deposits shine in the torchlight.
The caverns are natural and were mined for their Fluorspar deposits. Miners followed the veins into the caves. Nowadays very little minerals remain but the caverns are impressive and well cared for to allow future generations to view their secrets.
The soot marks from candles, pick marks from tools and narrow shafts show how miners once worked in these caverns. We enjoyed an informative tour round. More information can be seen here visit link and here visit link
