A marker commemorating the establishment of Kinston, formerly called Kingston, in 1762. This tablet is located on the grounds of the Lenoir County Courthouse and was placed in 1929.

The tablet is mounted on a stone and sits on the front lawn of the Lenior County Courthouse. It was installed in 1929. The tablet reads:

CHANGED TO KINSTON IN 1784 IN KEEPING
