On the evening of February 2, 2007, 24-year-old Nick Bucher was returning home after working his shift as a cook, on this corner of Southest Stark and 26th Street in Portland, Oregon. Nick was riding his bike at the time and was involved in a collision with a truck driven by Cyrus Stanger. Nick died February 3, 2007 from his injuries.
A ghost bike was installed at the location soon after Nick's death. A March 2013 news article by Oregon Live/The Oregonian about ghost bikes displays a photo of Nick's ghost bike and indicatas his parents still decorate the bike often.
