Wikipedia
tells us about the DLR system:
"The Docklands Light Railway (the
DLR) is an automated light metro or light rail system opened in 1987 to serve
the redeveloped Docklands area of London. It reaches north to Stratford, south
to Lewisham, west to Tower Gateway and Bank in the City of London financial
district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport and Woolwich
Arsenal.
The system is not entirely
unmanned: it uses minimal staffing on board trains and at major interchange
stations; the 4 sub-surface stations are staffed to comply with underground
station requirements. Similar proposals have been made for the adjacent system,
the Tube.
The DLR is operated under a
concession awarded by Transport for London to Serco Docklands, part of the Serco
Group. The system is owned by Docklands Light Rail Limited,[7] part of the
London Rail division of Transport for London. In 2011 the DLR carried over 86
million passengers. It has been extended several times and further extensions
are being planned."
Wikipedia tells us:
"The Royal Victoria Station is on the Docklands Light
Railway (DLR) in east London. It opened on 28 March 1994 and is
named after the nearby Royal Victoria Dock.
It is on the
DLR's Beckton branch, in Travelcard Zone 3.
National Rail's North London Line ran parallel to the DLR
between Canning Town and Custom House stations until the Stratford to North
Woolwich section closed on 9 December
2006. Its tracks passed close by the DLR platforms, but there were
no NLL platforms although this is near the former Tidal Basin station on
the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway.
During 2009, as part of the Canning Town DLR flyover and
the new DLR line from Canning Town
to Stratford, a siding was added to the Victoria Dock Road side
of the station. The Canning Town junction and flyover occupy the whole distance
between Royal Victoria and Canning Town stations.

Transport for London have completed a cable car route nearby called the Emirates Air
Line. It opened in June 2012 before the 2012 Summer Olympics and
runs from a station close to the Royal Victoria Dock over the river
to the Greenwich Peninsula and The O2."
