Ralph and Lola Cooley acquired the lot at 888 Summer Street NE in 1922. The Cooley's owned the house until 1967, when the sold it to the State of Oregon as part of the state's preparations to expand the Capitol Mall. In 1989/90, the house was moved to it's current location (1340 Chemeketa Street NE) in order to make room for the State Archives Building. Today it serves as a dentist office.
