A biography written by his grandson states:
"Price of whom we wish to write, joined the army of the Revolution in the year 1776. At the age 20 years, he served his Country faithfully under the leadership of the Immortal Washington for six years & seven months, taking part in the Battles of White Plains, Monmouth, Trenton, Brandywine, Sullivan's Campaign against the Indians in the Gennisse Country State of New York, he was also in a great many Skirmishes, and was at the Siege of Yorktown in the State of Virginia, and the Surrender of Lord Cornwallis with the British Troops, under him, which was virtually the closing of the War."
His service record shows that he spent the winter of 1777 – 78 at Valley Forge.
