Visitors to the historic town of
Port Gamble are inundated with historical elements throughout the township. Almost every building in this town contains a historical marker that highlights the history of prior occupants. Each marker stands out nicely on painted burgundy boards and gold lettering. This historic former residence contains a marker on the front fence that reads:
1890 Clarence R. & Lulu (Hovey) Cranmer House Clarence was a past Master of the Franklin Lodge in 1896. Lulu died at the age of 32 on June 15, 1904 and is buried in the Port Gamble Cemetery. |
I could find no other pertinent information regarding the history and background of this former residence. It is currently home to the Tea Room, a tea room, bistro, and candy shop.
I DID manage to locate a PDF document of a walking tour of Port Gamble.
This former residence, along with the majority of residences and businesses in Port Gamble, is owned by Pope Resources and maintained by Olympic Property Group and many homes and buildings are available for rent/lease throughout the year.
